Crystal Lake A Friday the 13th Prequel TV Series

Jason Voorhees | Published on the october 31st 2022, 9:22 pm | 947 Views

As we Friday the 13th fans have been silently waiting for a new film or TV series based around the Friday the 13th franchise as of today October 31st, 2022 it has been announced by Variety well it seems the wait is now over as we are getting a new TV Series on Peacock it is a streaming service from NBC Universal and will have the screenwriter of the 1st film Victor Miller as this series Executive Producer with Horror Incs Rob Barsamian as Executive Producer and having Bryan Fuller as the series screen writer and yes the same Bryan Fuller behind the Hannibal TV series, and will have A24 as the studio behind the series and yes the series is titled as Crystal Lake.

Not much is known about the prequel but for those who know the series it likely will be a telling of events from Pamela Voorhees side, from when she murdered her estranged husband Elias Voorhees and fled to New Jersey to have Jason, the series will likely also give us more information about the Christy family, and the history behind how the camp was built, and much much more that we all could speculate.

Now a lot of people namely fans have been vocal about prequels and some will either love or hate it, but for me, it's something Victor Miller always wanted, and if this is news to people well spoiler alert...Victor Miller DOES NOT like the concept of our favorite hockey mask killer, he has openly stated...

Victor Miller

To be honest, I have not seen any of the sequels, but I have a major problem with all of them because they made Jason the villain. I still believe that the best part of my screenplay was the fact that a mother figure was the serial killer—working from a horribly twisted desire to avenge the senseless death of her son, Jason. Jason was dead from the very beginning. He was a victim, not a villain. But I took motherhood and turned it on its head and I think that was great fun. Mrs. Vorhees was the mother I’d always wanted—a mother who would have killed for her kids.

So if you are seeing this prequel story believing you will ever see our favorite mama's boy killing well...you won't we will only ever see Kid Jason, and his growing up from a baby to the drowning events, as many times it has been explored before but Non-Canonically namely in the Wildstorm Comics: Pamela's Tales series which shows us what Pamela did prior to being the head cook, but if I remember this series makes Jason a psychopath where he killed kittens which would be out of character for him later on.

This series could actually work so as long as they don't repeat the many already established storylines from the comic books and no! just because the TV series takes "inspiration" from the comics doesn't make the comics canon.
