By darker I mean by lighting

It seemed very secluded, dark during alot of the movie. Not a light of light

We didn't see awhole lot of exterior shots and when we did alot of it was at night and when it was storming

Alot of 1,2,3 took place in the dyatime. Some of 4 did as well but it still seemed more darker

Day time was reserved for character development, I think. Other than the hitchhiker, I think all of Jasons kills happened at night, from the morgue to the Jarvis House. So yeah, I agree the setting was way darker than the others

Correct

Jason was stalking and waiting for the right time.

Daytime wouldn't work 100% so darkness is his friend.

This movie WAS darker, and not just in terms of lighting. I'm old enough to have been 16 when this movie came out, and I was having a hard time on the school bus at the time. I found the movie very dark and depressing, and I find it to be my least favorite because of what happening around me at the time.

I'm just not a fan of the whole drinking game and hooking up scenario. I just never felt comfortable with it.

I hope I haven't turned anyone off with my opinion.

It's all good.

The mission of a Horror film is suppose to make you feel a specific emotion.

Part 4 had alot of more scandalized Tropes something the later series never really did not even Part 7 or the 2009 Remake showed scandalous between characters.
